Hello,

I recently bought a ASUS VG248QE monitor and noticed it had some pretty ugly backlight bleed. However unlike most backlight bleed it didn't appear around the edges of the screen but directly in the centre instead. This cloudy grey oval got gradually more and more severe each day until I decided to RMA the monitor in hopes that a replacement would not suffer the same issue. Today the replacement arrived and I was shocked to discover that the central backlight bleed is even more severe than the first one! It's definitely the worst I have encountered and it makes the entire screen look foggy and washed out. I should mention that the brightness, contrast and colours have all been configured correctly.

Here are some photos of the monitors next to my old Samsung display:

Both of these photos were taken with a completely black background displayed on each screen. This doesn't even do justice to how bad they look in person.

This is extremely frustrating as everything else about the monitor is great. The build quality seems decent and having 144hz is amazing. Is this a common issue with the VG248QE or have I just been unlucky and received two bad units? After spending literally months looking for a new display I really thought this was the one...

I will definitely send this replacement monitor back but now im wondering if it's even worth getting another replacement if it's going to have the exact same problem.

Thanks.
