Two Monitors, 1 HDMI out

ethandeguire

A non-tech savvy friend of mine bought a laptop with only 1 HDMI output port (and no others, except for a USB), He wants to have 2 separate monitors hooked up to the laptop.

I know splitters exist that would make the same image on both monitors, is there any way to split the HDMI into two separate monitors, or use the USB as an output?

Thanks!

USB to HDMI adapters exist but I don't know how well they work. Other than that, no way to have more than one monitor.

There are plenty of docking stations out there too if your friend is looking to simulate a desktop environment without thunderbolt.

I had a lot of teachers use these in collage and they seem to be glitchy, so I would thoroughly check the reviews before buying any of them.
