If he's purely gaming and wants minimal upgradibility/compatibility then sure.

If you want to wait until

If he can wait until Febuary 12th. The first batch of ZEN + is dropping and the 2400G looks promising. Has the same multithread as 8400, but performed better in other virtual tests, and is overclockable.

I would rather agree on what we share, than fight on what we don't. - Myself

We will have to see about that one. The issue with Ryzen isn't the multithreaded performance, it's the singlethreaded performance, it is just not up to the same standard that Ryzen is.

Any reason why you want to do an all AMD build? You'll get better performance for gaming with Intel.

Oh also there's no point in planning this if you aren't going to buy it for months

there's going to be APUs and a ryzen refresh, don't know if we have info but I don't think 4.5ghz is unreasonable

Man, I don't get mine till I don't know when.

But in any event it's probably worth waiting for Ryzen + if you have a working system already, should OC higher at the very least and have newer motherboards with real VRM heatsinks

but as I posted earlier, should spend the money on the 4k display, you can just run games at 1080p upscaled until better GPUs come out.
