So yesterday my computer just randomly turned off and won't turn back on I let it unplugged and turned the switch to off overnight to see if that would fix it and it didn't. I also did the paper clip test to see if the psu still works so I'm guessing it's either the motherboard or the cpu which I doubt since i have 2 fans so overheating is more then likely out of the question. When plugged in there is no lights or anything

Specs:

Intel i7 6700k

16gb ram ddR4

750 watt PSU

Motherboard: MSI Gaming Intel Skylake B150

if you don't have a power supply tester get one and see if it passes that test, the paper clip test is just a quick way to see if a psu powers on and it only really tests the 12v rail(since the fan is wired to the 12v rail) so if your power supply happens to have a bad 5v rail(which will prevent you from booting), you will never know it unless you test the power supply with a tester

outside of that unless you have another motherboard to test with you might need a new motherboard

Clear CMOS, disconnect and reconnect all cables (on both sides if the PSU is modular).

Well yesterday I thought for sure it was the PSU so I ordered a Corsair tx750 watt and I couldn't cancel the order after I tested the paper clip thing. Outside of that and the motherboard any other ideas? any other ideas? I doubt the CPU could do this right?

it can be anything, start from the power supply and work your way in, a power supply tester is like $5-10 on ebay and amazon

I mean by the time I get the tester the power supply would have got here already will get one further down the road. So the power supply will be the tester

either way start there and then work your way in, hopefully its just a power supply issue
