I was on this yesterday for the first time, and received amazing help about switching ISP companies. I ended up with 1gbps download speeds and 35 mbps upload speeds with comcast/xfinity. I also decided based on a lot of research that renting one of their modems was an awful idea. I wanted to make sure this https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-download-1-4Gbps-Certified-XFINITY/dp/B01M981YYL/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 is a great modem to buy for this speed.

EDIT: I am up posting this at 2:50 am as I was just talking to comcast support trying to get them to do this for me for 5 hours, and kept getting disconnected and having to start over.

No, you need a DOCSIS 3.1 modem like the SB8200

The one you linked is DOCSIS 3.0 and while in theory can do 1.3Gbps Comcast won't push a config out for that box that will allow it to go that fast. It will cap out at about 600Mbps.

As @Lurick said you need a Docsis 3.1 modem. If you go to https://mydeviceinfo.xfinity.com/customerinfo, you should be able to find all the compatible retail modems. Just to add, all the modems on this list have been tested by Comcast, so they are guaranteed to work.

Also, remember that the rented Comcast box is a modem/router, so you may need a router as well if you dont have on already.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

ok. they said they provide a router, but do i need one voice enabled?

Only if you get phone service. Also they provide a modem/router combo. You have to pay $11 a month rental fee. There equipment is shit in most cases. For the record my family has been with Comcast for over a decade. I know all there sneaky little tricks.
