Linux ubuntu file /boot/grub/i386-pc/gettext.mod not found

After the very kind and appreciated advice from people yesterday at r/pcmr about Linux, I decided to install Ubuntu on my laptop from a USB drive that I (I think this is what its called) "formatted" using the usb-multiboot tool from pendrivelinux.

I had a bit of trouble installing but sorted it out by turning safe and fast boot off. I also switched bios to UEFI and CBM. It boots, I installed it and restarted the PC.

Afterwards it took me to a screen where it it had me choose between "windows directory" and the default HDD.

When I choose the HDD it takes me to a black screen and it says:

ubuntu file /boot/grub/i386-pc/gettext.mod not found

Do any of you have any fixes for this? I don't know really anything about Linux and don't have any clue what to do

After some googling it looks as though this is as a result of you disabling secure boot which is causing grub to load incorrectly.

Since Ubuntu 16 running secure boot on a UEFI computer has been mandatory.

Please re enable UEFI boot mode and secure boot then reinstall.
