So I run an alienware 15r2 laptop. With the brightness cranked to max dark areas in games are still  un playable.  I try to go into windows color management and adjust the settings to correct this, changing the gama settings to where the shadows are good then light areas get washed out. Is there anywhere else that I need to adjust settings. It's hard to believe that a gaming laptop would have such a terrible display on it.

Any reason your screen brightness is down in Windows?

Are all your drivers up to date? I've had laptops act strange with brightness control if drivers aren't installed/updated.

Did it come brand new like this or did you install windows yourself?

Just now, User Name said:

It came new like that. I even called dell and they sent me a new display that I put in myself, it was the same so I just gave up. Windows brightness is all the way and power saver is off.

Is it IPS or TN? I'd assume windows brightness DOES adjust it?

IPS and windows does adjust the brightness and the screen is bright but the darks are just too dark. So maybe saying the screen is too dark is incorrect i should have said the darks are too dark.
