Orange Creamsicle

F Bomb29

Hi all, this will be a log of my second custom watercooled PC. My first watercooled PC is my current gaming PC and this one that I will be building is going to be my HTPC, I know that it is a little bit overkill but it will also be used as my VR station. Parts in Green will be parts that I have, parts in Red will be parts that I don't have, and parts in Blue are parts that I have ordered. This is a non sponsored build and all parts were/will be bought by me.

Name

The name that I have chose for this PC is Orange Creamsicle or just Creamsicle for short. I know that it is kind of weird but when I was a kid my grandparents had an orange vanilla/ orange creamsicle candle that smelled so good. So the color of this PC will be as much orange and white as possible.

Specs
With this being my HTPC/VR rig I knew the parts had to be pretty good to run VR at a decent frame rate.

The CPU I've chosen is the Intel i7 8700k due to being the most current Intel CPU, and it also uses the motherboard that I want to use.
Speaking of motherboards I've chose the Asus ROG Strix Z370-E due to it being one of the whitest motherboard out on the market right now.
RAM is gonna be HyperX Fury 2x8 because DDR4 prices are through the roof, and I've use HyperX RAM in most of my builds, and I like the way it looks.
Storage was kind of a hard choice with M.2 getting more and more popular, I've picked a Samsung 960 EVO M.2 250gb as my boot drive and a WD Black 1tb as my Data Drive. I don't plan on putting too much on this PC so that should do.
My GPU will be the Gigabyte GTX 1080ti Aorus, mainly because it has an HDMI port on the rear of the PCB.
The case will be the Caselabs BH8 the smaller form factor really attracted me because it should be able to fit on my TV stand, and Caselabs build quality is FREAKING awesome.
The PSU is the Corsair RMx 750W with Custom Cables by CableMod.

Cooling:
All the waterblocks will be EKWB because I think that they are the best looking blocks on the market.

I'll use the Asus Z270E Monoblock to cool the CPU and the mosfets.
The GPU block is the EKWB 1080ti Aorus block.
There will be 2 EKWB 280 SE Radiators.
Hardline tubing is the only tubing I will use, as I am not a fan of soft line tubing.
Fittings will be Primochill Sky White fittings.
The fluid will be Mayhems Orange.
The pump will be the EKWB X-Top Revo, I am planning on doing a separate pump and res.
The Res will be the Singularity Computers Protium 250mm mainly because I just watched JayzTwoCents build log on his new personal rig and he got his res from them and I really like how it looks and the mounting system it uses.

Anyways, when I buy parts and they arrive I will be sure to update the build log here and if you guys have any questions I will be sure to answer them, Thanks!

I've just ordered all of the waterblocks, the pump, and the radiators, and man I forgot how expensive it is to water cool a PC O.o. I still have to buy a bunch of fittings and the reservoir and some of the parts too. but its all coming together. I'm hoping to have most of the parts besides the case by February. The case should get here by the middle of February, due to Caselabs having a 6 week waiting period on their cases. But its totally worth it to me. So it's gonna be a while till I actually build this thing

The FedEx man showed up today with a neat little package. I'll hopefully order the GPU sometime next week, as of typing this right now it is out of stock everywhere I've looked:/ then after that it will be all of the cheaper parts that I have to order. Which hopefully I can do in the following weeks.

In my last post I said that I would order the GPU this week, but with the ethereum price going up all of the GPU prices are going up as well , it also doesn't help that all of the GPUs are out of stock because of it too. So I've just ordered the CPU and motherboard, and they will be here sometime next week :)

Just bought the reservoir and the reservoir mount. I wanted them so bad that I had Performance PCs email me when they were back in stock haha. I would have liked to  wait to buy them but I feel like they are getting pretty popular and I wanted to be sure that I can get my hands on one of them. So those should also be here next week.

Looks like the FedEx man came early, got my CPU and motherboard in today, and I am glad I went with this motherboard because it is sexy as hell. Now it is time to delid the CPU, i'm thinking i'll just send it to Silicon Lottery to delid it so I don't break it haha. I guess i'm just paranoid. Anyways this is probably the last of the parts I will purchase this month due to the bills I have to pay, so the next round of parts will be in February. I'll probably get the RAM and the PSU early next month. As well as the custom cables from CableMod.

Got the reservoir in today, and this thing is beautiful. I am so glad that I got this res. I'm a big fan of the mounting system too, it is super strong and the reservoir doesn't move at all when I twist and pull on it.

Well guys, I just bought the GPU, I had nowinstock.com text me when it came back in stock, and I ended up finding one at MSRP. So that will be here next week, I also got some random Bitspower fittings from a local guy. They aren't the fittings i'm going to be using, they are just random fittings that he had around.

I didn't even know that, I just bought it cause it has an HDMI port on the back of the PCB, but that is nice to know, thanks.

Yes seems like my terrible memory actually caught something this time around:

GIGABYTE claims their AORUS GeForce GTX 1080 Ti GPU will come pre-binned through their “GPU Gauntlet” sorting, that is why it comes with high out-of-the-box factory overclocks available in two modes: OC and Gaming mode.

Got the GPU in today, early next month I'll order the PSU, the RAM, and the storage. I'm probably going to change the fittings to Primochill's Sky White fittings, and not use the UV Orange ones, and then the fluid is going to be Mayhems Orange dye, the same stuff Jayz used a previous build of Skunkworks. I also might go with glass tubing instead of the PETG I thought I was going to use. I'm undecided on the glass yet though. Also included in this pic are the random Bitspower fittings that I purchased from a local guy, if I use any of these fittings they will be underneath the motherboard tray, so they will be hidden. I'm going to wait to order the custom cables till the case gets here so I can get them in the right lengths.

Wait what? How do that work?

I just realized we have an almost similar case, I will soon start my own log as the first water cooling part for mine actually arrived today.

Mine is the Lian Li PC-V33

It will be sort of how this picture is, my pump will be in the "basement" along with the drain port, it will only be 2 fittings down there so its not like I'm gonna have a bunch of tubing running through here, just the inlet and outlet tubes.

Ah ok makes sense now, in my case the psu is right there were the rad is on that picture, so I dont have such an option.

Actually really interesting to see how two cases that share a lot of similarities can end up being totally different. I have not seen so many compact cube case builds around with water cooling B|

Hi all, its been a while since I've updated this, but today I bought the rest of the parts I needed besides the custom cables. I am still waiting for the case to get here before I order those, so I can get the correct lengths of the cables. I changed the WD Blue 1tb to a WD Black 1tb that i'm pulling out of my other build. The fittings also changed from Primochills UV Orange to Primochills Sky White. I decided to go with Mayhems Orange dye as well. I also went with the Corsair RM 750x and not the RM 650x to have a little more wiggle room for power.

Got the parts in that I ordered earlier this week. I didn't include this in an update but I did send my CPU to Silicon Lottery do delid it. Got it back and put in the board and put the monoblock on, and then tested the parts. They all tested out too! Just waiting for the case and then the custom cables.

wait what?

you just tested to see if they worked right? so there was no load on the cpu.

because either im blind or you actually used it only with the mono as the only "heatsink" for the cpu, no fans or coolant

parts look sweet btw, specially that gpu, damn!

though i wonder, why have white ram sticks? they look like they stick out a little bit as it is for now

That is correct I didn't have any liquid in the monoblock for the CPU. As long as you don't have the pc on for a long time you don't need any liquid in the block. As for the white RAM sticks they should fit in well with the rest of the build. The fittings and the case are white.

Bought the custom cables today, I went to look to see how much they would be and saw they had a 4-6 week wait on them so I just made the cables the same length as the ones that come with the PSU. They might be a little long but hopefully they aren't too long. So now I'm just waiting on the case and the cables :)

Well I got the case in yesterday, and took it to a local place to get the parts of the case that weren't white, powder coated white. They said they will have that done by the middle of next week. So after that gets done all I'm waiting on is the custom cables. I might just build it without the custom cables and when they get here I will put them in. That would probably make it harder but I really want to see this PC done. Till next update :)

That would probably make it harder but I really want to see this PC done. Till next update :)

wow neat! I had not realized that you will paint the case. Im actually soon going to partially paint my case too, but will take the cheaper option and just use plasti dip, pretty sure your result will look stunning in comparison.
