R9 290X fitted with Arctic Cooling Xtreme III

Finished the upgrade, my fan controller on the card commited suicide though, pretty sure I ballsed the order of the cables with the power connector, or maybe it just wanted an honorable death. Either way the card is still alive.

New peak temps for the core is only 55C while playing Crysis 3, making that a 40C improvement over stock.

All benching was done @ 2560x1080 in ultra settings and overclocked to 1206MHz core and 5500MHz memory. 

 

Hitman: absolution

Bioshock Infinite:

166FPS

Tomb raider with TressFX on:

79FPS

Unigine Heaven (extreme preset):

1950

Unigine Valley (Extreme HD):

2884

 

Maybe it would be worth the wait to save a few bucks on a 3rd party cooler.
