Hi,

I recently got a x299 taichi motherboard.

On the actual board, it has an 8-pin header for power to the CPU, however bundled in the box also has an 8-pin to dual 8-pin adapter.

The adaptor is using CPU layout pins, not PCIe.

I am mainly confused about whether it's required. I have checked on Asrocks website for box contents, and it's not even listed. The manual doesn't have it listed in the box contents, and a reviewer removing every piece from their box didn't have one of these either.

Do I need to use this, and if so, how/why?

Thanks in advance.

My next question is why asrock didn't just put two 8-pin connections on the motherboard.

if you are using a high end GPU (GTX 1080 and >) that two 8-pin connectors will be useful to power the Graphics Card
