In your taskbar right click the volume icon, click recording devices, right-click the one you don't want to use and select disable. If you want to completely disable front panel audio than just take out the HD Audio connector from your motherboard.

my motherboard has no HD audio connector at all, front mic was still enabled. To solve my issue (Im using a Xonar DGX soundcard as I have no on-board audio) I downloaded The UNi drivers for for windows 10 and Opted for the "C media" panel over the default panel which then allowed me to un-check "front panel audio" on my mic settings and get my mic data routed through the soundcard, solving the issue.

I've tried everything and look everything I simply cannot find where to make my mic not use my front jack. Im coming in through a soundcard (xonar DGI with open source W10 drivers) and nothing is working. Sounds works. Mic is detected but doesn't allow sound input. Mic works fine on other PCs.

Apparently by default the front jack is enabled and on my motherboard I cannot use a front jack and I cannot find where to disable it. Very annoying.
