I'm upgrading my computer just after Christmas. CPU, Case and Cooler are here. RAM and MOBO are coming for Christmas. Still to buy a new PSU. GPU and Storage being carried over.

My main issue is the storage. Let me be clear. I'm not buying any new stuff. No one can convince me to. Right now I'm using a 128GB SanDisk SSD, a 2TB WD Blue SATA HDD and a 2TB Toshiba USB 3.0 External HDD.

I assume I can just transfer the Hard Drives over to a new build without much issue - Please correct me if I'm wrong.

My SSD is small. I know this. It's also nearly full and a lot of it is junk. Therefore, I think a clean wipe is a good idea.

I don't know 1) How to do it? 2) How do I relink any installed software on the hard drives? 3) Since my Windows License is linked to my Microsoft Account and not my current MOBO, will there be any issue moving it to new hardware? (I had read it was fine but I wanna be sure)

I've never wiped a system drive before and I just wanna be sure before doing it.

Thanks in advance.

As long as it's a software link, connected to an online account it should be doable.

I mean like a program such as Office that has a file path in Windows. Will that be able to be relinked?

Office is part of your Microsoft account. It will go over, but not the files you've created.
