steam refuses to work on ubuntu 16.04

i've looked at all forums for this problem (apparently a lot of installation problems regarding ubuntu and steam) but none that i've found have helped me

 

when i type in steam in my terminal, it pops up with this

 

Running Steam on ubuntu 16.04 64-bit
STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled automatically
Pins up-to-date!
*******757@*******757-MS-7A15:~$

but the actual steam login box never pops up?

 

why

 

hopefully last topic on linux, love it here way more than windows.

didnt work. i got it working for a day or two, i then shut down my pc to connect my router up (moved from living room to bedroom) stopped working again

Could you paste the output of steam steam-runtime and steam-native from the terminal?
