On Thursday I received my new CPU (Intel I5 - 7500) and I followed all of the steps in order to install it properly but the computer will not stay on. The pc starts and runs for maybe 10-15 secs and then shuts off but then starts back up and continues that cycle. I tried one stick of ram in the #2 slot of my motherboard. I tried resetting the CMOS with a screwdriver and also removing the battery. I tried running it without the GPU connecting and nothing seems to make a difference. I  thought it may just be the CPU but i received another one today and it is giving me the same issue. I know there is no issue with the motherboard because when i put in my olde CPU it starts up perfectly fine. If there is anything else I could try I will gladly do it.

My Computer:

The RAM is not compatible with that motherboard. The RAM you have is 288-pin DIMM form factor, but the Gigabyte GA-H110M-S2PV DDR3 (rev. 1.0) Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard only accepts 240-pin DIMM form factor RAM. If you check on gigabytes website that ram isnt listed. Just return it and grab a supported one. :-)

Have you updated the Bios on the motherboard?  Your I3 6100 needs to be installed first to do the update.  Then put the I5 7500 in and it should boot fine.  That is a skylake motherboard with a Kaby Lake CPU.  Pretty certain you only need to update the Bios.

Current Build

AMD Ryzen 2600

Stock cooler

Asus ROG B450f gaming Mobo

1tb SKHynix m.2

WD 1TB HDD

Asus ROG Strix RX 5700xt

16 Gigs ddr4 3000 gskill ram

Phantek fans

Phanteks P400TG

Laptop

Eluktronics Prometheus XVII

Ryzen 7 5800h

32 gigs ddr4 Corsair ram

Nvidia rtx 3080 max-p

1tb Samsung m.2

Thank you so much for your advice Zusafek. I do not understand why I did not see that as an opinion when I was looking for a fix but it worked perfectly.

Always check CPU compatibility of your motherboard when upgrading.
