so im helping my friend build his new pc. He has asrock z370 extreme 4 board inside a corsair crystal 570x case. The problem we are having is that the case fans are not lighting up or spinning at all. The motherboard lights up and appears to be working fine. also the led lights and and button on the front I/o are not working and im sure they are plugged up in the right position. Also the motherboard powers itself on when i flip the PSU switch on.

Double check your wiring, you can't be so sure.

Did you plug the fans into the correct ports and check if the the pins for the I/O are plugged in their respected places; some pins require the correct positive/negative terminals for them to work properly.

Check the motherboards wiring diagram in the owners manual or online

the pins are plugged in right. the connector is in the bottom left hand corner of the motherboard. I have the power led + and - plugged into the first two on the top row and the power sw plugged into the two next to them.thats the way it shows on the user manuel of the mother board

Did you plug in the 8-pin and the 20-pin wires to the motherboard?

What is the wattage of the power supply that you use? Is it enough?

Did he use a PSU calculator? Do you have a parts list?

Did you connect the computer to a monitor? (preferably directly to the GPU not the motherboard I/O)

Check the wires coming from the I/O, check if they are loose

Check the RGB LED header as well.

Do you have all the parts needed connected to the motherboard?

so the only things we plugged up were the motherboard and the asus 1080 strix he had. we got to the point where the power button would not light up or work and the fans didnt want to spin or light up at all. So we stopped installing parts until we figured out the problem. He assured me that the connectors were snug on the pins and for what i could see they were.

also the corsair crystal 570x has a side and a front logo that hook up through sata they also would not light up.

So the CPU, RAM, storage devices and whatnot were not installed?

Remove the GPU and try again, if the I/O, fans and LEDs work then that means the GPU is drawing too much power or that the PSU is not sufficient.

Are all his parts brand new or did he buy used parts?

Motherboards usually have a battery on them, check if yours is seated properly

I'd recommend connecting the parts first and then checking if it works before you install it on the case (test the components outside of the case)

Additionally, try out a PSU calculator online and check if you have sufficient power to run all the components together.

when the fans and leds were not working the only thing that was installed was the motherboard. I only installed the GPU to see if the psu would power to see if that was the issue.the PSU did power the video card so that wasnt the issue.

Then there might be an issue with the motherboard itself, maybe contact the retailer or try to get it RMAd
