Simple CPU water cooling loop in prodigy?

nkucz

Hey everybody,

I currently have been working on a build in a Prodigy and for future reference was wondering what simple relatively cheap water cooling loop would consist of? I just want to cool the CPU and I will be taking out the hard drive cages and using a radiator on the front intake, what components would work well without breaking the bank? I'm a noobie when it comes to custom loops.

Intel i5 3570K || Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 8GB FE || 8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport 1600MHz || ASRock Z77 Pro 3 || WD Caviar Blue 1TB || Noctua NH-U12S || Creative Sound Blaster Audigy FX Sound Card || Fractal Define R4 || Gigabyte GC-WB867D-I REV 4.2 Wireless Network Card

ASUS VC239H Monitor || Corsair Strafe Cherry MX Red || Logitech G Pro || Philips SHP9500 w/ V-MODA BoomPro Mic || Reflex Lab Pro 36 Heavy Mouse Pad || Google Nexus 6P 128GB

Do you want something pre-built like corsair H80 or are you planning a custom loop ?

This can probably help you a bit

The only relatively cheap watercooling loop would be an all-in-one kit like the h100. Never cheap out on an actual custom liquid cooling loop.

Corsair 900D | MSI MPower Max Z87 AC | i7-4790K @ 4.7Ghz | 1080 Ti SLI | 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400
XSPC Raystorm | EK-FC Nickel GPU block/backplate | 2x Alphacool UT60 480mm & XT45 240mm | 11x Linus Edition NF-F12
Schiit Modi/Magni 2 Uber | 5" KRK Rokit G3 | KRK 10S2 | Acer Predator X34 | Dell S2716DG

I don't mean cheap per say, I just mean not ridiculously expensive stuff

Well there aren't really any ridiculously overpriced liquid cooling parts out there (to my knowledge), but all I can suggest is sticking to a few brands that I like. Swiftech (for your pump), Bitspower (fittings, reservoir), XSPC (waterblocks), Primochill (Advanced LRT tubing. The only non-acrylic tubing anyone should ever use), and Alphacool (I really like their NexXxos radiators).

What kind of setup are you looking into and how much do you plan on spending? If you want to liquid cool a GPU and CPU in a Prodigy, you're probably looking at around $500 to do it right (this is a pretty rough estimate on my part).

just cpu not gpu, how much would that run?

Probably around $300-$350, but honestly, the real value of liquid cooling is in GPU cooling. I would much rather liquid cool my GPU and not my CPU. You can easily drop a GPU's temp in half with liquid cooling, but a CPU will not see anywhere near as impressive results. Again, if you're only going for a CPU loop, I would recommend an all-in-one unit over custom liquid cooling. It's just a much better value.
