Best GPU for this CPU?

My friend recently got a rig with a I3-540 for 50 euros. He knows that its not a bad rig for him, but as he needs a GPU, he is asking me to make a post on here, what would be the most powerful GPU his CPU could take. He is thinking about the new era GPUs as AMDs RX series or nVidias GT 10xx series.

A gtx 1060 6GB or rx570 in 1080P would be a good match I think.

considering that he got it cheaply, most likely with a cheap power supply, something along a 1050ti, or actually.. a 1030 is surprisingly capable if you want to go really cheap on a shoddy power supply.

1050ti at most then. FSP makes reliable units, but 350w ones dont have a 6pin connector to power more powerful cards.

yup, plenty of experience with those units, dont wanna use anything with a 6-pin really.. (even if the specific unit has one)

 

also, FSP has the tendency to use "yate loon" fans, which like to eat their own bearings.
