Retro build

Hello, people.

I'm a big fan of retro electronics. I'm planning to build a PC with as older as possible parts without buying "collector" parts. Any suggestions on CPUs or parts overall?

Thanks.

What are you planning on doing with the PC?

Actually nothing. I just want to make it work. Maybe I will play with an OLD OS. Try to get some Retro games working.

How old are you talking? People have very different meanings of old. Are you talking years or do you mean out dated

How old are we talking? If crappy cheap used parts is what your after, I see Pentium 4 and Athlon 64 based computers on my local craigslist often for sub 50$. That being said, used PC part options are just as extensive in form and function as modern PC parts.  Relevant YouTube channels that cover older PC parts include but are not limited to:

I'm building my retro system off of an Athlon 64 X2 3800+ based system that I liberated from my grandparents house before they moved. Windows XP would probably be a good OS for retro gaming
