DAC for M40X

The m40x I have are plenty loud, however the sound sometimes sounds a bit choppy like there's artifacts. I have an old Z68 entry-mid level board and was wondering If a DAC would fix this? I don't need an amp because its already loud enough. What do you guys think I should do to increase audio quality?. Thank you

Dac its okay but i prefer to buy External Dac/Amp combo that runs via USB like Fiio e10k,Q1 or Fulla 2 they cost around $100
