I've been looking for different solution in building my own pc. I know I should look for seperate parts and I do but what do people think about barebones pc's? Yay or nay? And if no what if you use a barebones list of parts as a reference and then find your own parts to add on or swap out?

I think some pretty specialized ones are decent like the gigabyte BRIX for what it does. But the average ones are not worth it. The only time they make sense to me is if the cost of the parts + OS totals to above the cost of the unit.

Barebones are a good place to start when getting a kit then adding in components. You can normally get a good discount on them.

I have nothing against them, unless they are overpriced and underpowered. Other than that, If you see that getting the barebones gaurentees you a deal, get it.

I just look at it like building a computer is simple. & It's cheap.

If you need help with a build from scatch, let me know.

Whats your currency, the amount you can spend, what will the build be used for, and any possible color preference?

Well I want to stay under $500 as best I can,  aiming for that $420 - $460/$480 range. Currency is USD and primarily gaming and obviously as a pc in general but I also just wanted to build a PC from scratch since it's been something I've been wanting to do and didn't want to buy a new console or anything either so I can take out multiple wants and such. There isn't much colour preference but I have been looking at the NZXT cases and their Gamma and M59 series cases.

This is a build idea I have seen and did a few adjustments (I don't need anywhere near 500gb and if so, same with ram and GPU, I can upgrade in the future) http://pcpartpicker.com/user/evan4897/saved/386u

Grab a gpu after you save up another 2-300$ and get 270 or 280, you have enough psu power to crossfire later, your mobo should support another 2 slots of ram, and your cpu can be overclocked. Also it's 3tb for 100$ or like 500gb for 50... so..

your psu is completely modular as well so no cable clutter.
