Hi, I have an old iPad first generation, and I was planning on doing an experiment with it, would it be possible to run a version of Windows on it?
I heard that Windows 10 now has the ability to run on ARM CPU's now, and I was thinking that I could maybe get windows to possibly install so I could do some file management around the house (I'd use a phone, but I am a poor, poor boy.)
This is just for experimenting purposes.

Compatibility is specific to certain chips/architectures of ARM.  On launch it appears MS supports Snapdragon 835 and the upcoming 845, since it was a Qualcomm partnership to begin with.  Further, not all ARM architectures will work with it.  It further involves x86 emulation, which again requires a beefy chip.

You could likely download a copy from a TechNet/MSDN subscription if you had access to one but I doubt it would ever load or run on any iPad as it doesn't appear to be a supported architecture yet.

Fun fact: Qualcomm and Apple don't get along very well, judging from their legal history.

If you happen to got Windows version which supports hardware, main issue would still be accessing firmware to be able to inject new OS for it. Technically its same as doing jailbreak or running custom ROM. But you need to dig deeper than these forums to find someone who has done it. If there is one.
