Im building a Streaming PC (Home Theater), which GPU should I use?

Which GPU is the best for streaming?

  1. 1. What`s best in your opinion (keep in mind cost sensitivity and that it`s only for streaming video) ???

    • A12 9800 APU (8CU`s Polaris Evolved, GCN 4.1)
    • Pentium G4620 + Radeon RX 550 (2GB)
    • Pentium G4620 + GeForce GT 1030 (2GB)

So, which is the better choice. The builds would be either:

A) AMD A12 9800 APU (3.8 GHz Base / 4.2GHz Boost) (Quad-Core, Excavator v2 28nm, 65W with 8 GPU Polaris Evolved CU`s, 7th Gen A-Series Flagship, Bristol Ridge) + 8GB RAM (2x4GB) DDR4 2400MHz + WD Blue 3D NAND SATA M.2 SSD (256GB)

B) Intel Pentium G4620 (3.7 GHz, Dual-Core with HT, 14nm Kaby Lake,  Pentium Flagship) + 8GB RAM (2x4GB) DDR4 2400MHz + AMD Radeon RX 550 2GB (MSI Aero ITX) + WD Blue 3D NAND SATA M.2 SSD (256GB)

C) Intel Pentium G4620 (3.7 GHz, Dual-Core with HT, 14nm Kaby Lake,  Pentium Flagship) + 8GB RAM (2x4GB) DDR4 2400MHz + Nvidia GeForce GT 1030 2GB (MSI Aero ITX)+ WD Blue 3D NAND SATA M.2 SSD (256GB)

Which build would be better for streaming video (4K 60FPS HDR)? (i.e. Blu-Ray, etc.) Keep in mind this is a cost sensitive Build, no one will pay more than $550-600 for a streaming machine.

Vote and comment

P.S. The RX 550 and the GT 1030 have nearly the same power.

Please Vote, I want to see what you think. =)

Why not just get a 4560/4620 and no dGPU? You could also surely go with a 120gb SSD in 'just a streaming machine'.

Because it`s only rated for 4K 30 no HDR. Also the G4560 has HD 610 wjilst the G4620 has the HD 630 + 200MHz for $3 more.

Also, it`s  Mini ITX Build, it`s the smallest capacity SSD I could find on the M.2 form factor, since the WD Green SSDs are nowhere to be found. (They had a 120GB M.2 SSD)

That means that the CPU can output to a monitor of that resolution natively, not actually display video, unless i`m wrong.

No, it means it can output a 4k 60 video signal (it will just be dependent on motherboard outputs).

Also, KL supports HDR. https://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Kaby-Lake-will-have-native-support-for-HDR-movies.167692.0.html

Hey, if I end up using the Penium or the APU alone, I was thinking of a CX (2017) 400/450W Power Supply (80+ Bronze). Ill offer Pentium as base, and upgrade options o the APU, and the RX 550/GT 1030

So, if the MoBo can`t handle it, it would be convinient then to use a dGPU (or I can just chande the MoBo)

Well dude if you want a 4k and at a low price get a better mobo like

MSI - B250I PRO Mini ITX

and get a better gpu go with a 1050ti or 1060

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yZ8xyf

Dude, it`s video streaming, the GT 1030 and RX 550 are RATED for that.

Also the A12 9800 APU 4K@60Hz HDR.

Learn a little about GPU`s and specs before commenting.

Even the HD 630 and HD 610 can do it, but the GPU is for stabilitie`s sake.

GTX 1050Ti is a budget gaming GPU

GTX 1060 is a middle of the road Gaming GPU.

my bad

My gaming setup is an R5 1600X with 16GB (2x8GB) of 3200MHz Vengeance LED RAM and an RX 580 8GB (overclocked at 1450MHz core and 9GBPS (9216MBps) Memory). Perfect to play on 1440p.

I get around 70FPS, thanks to all the OCs.

Im changing my 1600X when Zen+ Launches (to a 2600X), also my GPU. To a 1160/680/ Vega 40 (However it`s called, top of the line of the Mid End.

You can edit.

If I feel like spending big buks I might go 1180/Vega 64 (G2, will be based on 12nm) and a 2800X (alongside either 16GB or 32GB of RAM, probably 16 though...)
