I am in the market for a brand new gaming laptop

So I have been digging around for a new gaming laptop , and I stumbled upon this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077QM1G61/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2KX71NE8GALX. I am almost ready to buy it just I am not sure yet. I would usually be using this once a week at a friends house. Please do keep in mind that I am planning on upgrading the ram to 16 gigs. So do you guys have any suggestions?

I have one of these from my employer. The version they provided me with, however, was barebones; 8gb RAM, 5400rpm hdd, TN display. It is slow as molasses. Everything is slow. But I believe it's due to the lack of SSD, and having databases installed. The TN display is terrible. I chose this one because it had hdmi 2.0, but even that was problematic. And then, come to find out, it only had hdmi 2.0 because they removed the displayport... The version you're asking about has a nice SSD, and IPS display, and my version has 4gb gtx1050, non ti. Overall, your laptop will be better than the one I got, for sure. The laptop does feel good, and it's nice looking; the keyboard is alright, the trackpad is finicky. It's hard to ask about laptop deals right after black Friday/cyber Monday. Specially when some of the deals carried over until last night.

There was a deal on a laptop + HMD mixed reality for $999 at Amazon the other day. It had i7 7700hq, gtx1060 6gb, 16gb ddr4, ssd... You won't find that deal right now, but for the price of the device you linked to, you may be able to find a better deal either now, or lurking deal sites.

Here is the link, for reference only, as the deal is dead: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-GeForce-Wireless-Controllers/dp/B076H8FTD7/ref=pd_ybh_a_86?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=35YVZE2DY46GP7KAXYST

At $900, you should shoot for gtx 1060, i7, 256gb ssd, 16gb ram. If you're going to give one of those up, give up the SSD, and buy yourself one afterward. RAM is too expensive nowadays, and while SSDs aren't all that cheap, you can get some quality ones on sale quite often.

I have never had a dell laptop, But I have heard they are quite good depending on the model you get. Just whatever you do, Try to stay away from the alienwares, I find dell gaming has better deals then there gaming part of the company for a laptop with the exact same specs, just with a alien logo stuck on it. My friend also had an alienware that he sold a couple months back that was having major temperature issues.

This laptop looks promising, but it's not really in my price range. I feel that this would be a better cost effective option for me

The base model of 7577 (with same CPU, RAM and SSD specs but with GTX 1060 Max-Q instead of 1050 Ti) would set you an additional $100 ($949 as of this writing on Dell's site) and I'd say it's worth it, mainly due to the full ThunderBolt 3 support.
