So I decided to finally upgrade and got a 9U Server Cabinet Glass Locking Door w/ Key Wall Mount Network Rack and plan to take the parts from a working dell workstation and transplant them in there... just wondering what else I need.. I know ill need a mount plate and some other things but just wanted others ideas..... maybe hardline water cooling too hehehhee

How deep is the rack? That will limit the rackmount chassis that you can use. If it’s 600mm deep I like the SuperMicro CSE-813MTQ (just barely fits in a Navepoint 600mm rack, have to use a right angle power cable) and the Norco RPC2304 (about 500mm deep IIRC). If your rack is 450mm or less then you’ll need a chassis that don’t have front accessible hard drive bays, SuperMicro has a few 1U choices in this area.

That’s about 450mm (463 to be exact). You’ll have to browse around for “short depth” chassis that are max 440mm / 18” deep (remember to account for wires out the back)
