The big time where brand matters is between motherboard and CPU. You need to make sure that the motherboard you buy has support for the AMD Ryzen 7 1600x, and every motherboard that does will have compatibility for every PCIe based graphics card (like the GTX 1080). Other than that, brand doesn't really matter at all.

yes, all pcie gpus work in any system with pcie lanes. brand doesn't really matter, blower style cooler (1080 founders card) for tiny case, open air cooler (asus strix, gigabyte windforce, cards with regular looking fans) for cases bigger than a milk crate. also it's ryzen 5 1600x ;)

I'f you're still deciding on the mobo I'd recommend at least the asus x370 pro https://pcpartpicker.com/product/qMdFf7/asus-prime-x370-pro-atx-am4-motherboard-prime-x370-pro  it's the best cheap mobo good for r7 cpus, b350 has inadequate vrms and pretty much everyone but asus just sucks on am4, the next step up is the asus crosshair 6
