Hi. I have a situation where i don't have a smart tv but i am planning to make it smart by building a "console pc" for it when vega apus come out on am4.

And i noticed the steam controller on sale. I was thinking about using it to play games from the couch and also as a tool to browse the internet and watch tv shows and youtube.

So the question - Can any owners of the steam controller please tell me how does it fair as a replacement for a mouse?

I know it has a touch pad, so it should be pretty decent. But before buying i want to hear some opinions about it.

It's not bad, tbh. Touchpad works well and keyboard is built in too, click the analog stick and it will pop up. Most people don't know wbout that keyboard. It doesnt work when Netflix is fullscreen though which is immensely frustrating

qυoтe мe pleaѕe!

Me at the Apple store: "So how fast is this little macbook?"

Apple employee: "Cheetah Fast. Lightning Fast. It's Really, really, fast."

Okay, so I have one, and I have a bit of experience. I'll go genre by genre:

Platformers (e.g. Super Meat Boy): Pretty good, actually really enjoyable with the steam controller

FPS (e.g. R6, BLOPS 3, etc.): Utterly awful. Basically unplayable to me

Strategy: Honestly I'm not sure. Messing with it, I feel it's okay for CIV, however RTS I feel would be really hard to be competitive.

RPG: 3rd person would probably be okay, crpg would be pretty good, FPS would be interesting depending on the pace of combat.

Browsing/Using your computer: Big picture mode works pretty well, and using it with the desktop was below optimal, but usable.

LTT also did a video a while back
