GPU Power

So my PSU has these 2 cords coming from it. Only one says pcie but that one also has an annoying secondary cord coming from it. Could I use the other 8 pin that doesn't have pcie written on it. I'm just trying to be precautious.

No, the unlabelled 8-pin is a CPU power connector that will plug into your motherboard. If you force the plug into a graphics card, you can expect to see smoke when powering it up.

Is it not a pass-through cable? Looks the same as the other one (6+2)

No. The pin layout is different.

 

The top one is RSSR on the top row, and SRRS on the bottom row (Rounded and Square pins). The 6+2 is RRSS on the top row, and SRRR on the bottom.
