Cortana Music Recognition

I learned that Cortana can recognize a song playing, so I set it up. But when playing music on Spotify, Cortana can't hear the song and just says "I'm sorry, I don't recognize this song.". Does Cortana only work with songs being played off the computer, and being picked up by the mic?

Yeah and why would you need it to recognize a song you are playing as the name is right in front of you

Cortana listens to your microphone. It needs to hear your music through there.

Make sure your recording settings in Windows are setup correctly. You can loop back your audio, but I don't recommend it, as even if you where headphones and you watch a video, and the video goes "Hey Cortana, lock my PC", well it will lock it as you watch the video, as it will think you are asking that, unless you set it up to recognize your voice only.

Naturally your pc will filter out its own sounds being outputted to speakers.
