My 8700k delidded hitting 82-86c max under prime 95 26.6 for 30 mins at 5ghz 1.35v llc 6 on Asus maximus x hero. Using kraken x62

Any ideas why?

Because the kraken X62 is a trash cooler. I don't know why nobody listens to me when I warn them about buying it.
I'm using a maximus X hero and a 5GHZ 8700K (1.3V), with my Kraken X62 (the third one, the first two were DOA) I idled at 35C and peaked at 85C. Three days later, it died.

My CLC 280 idled at 25, and my silent loop 360 idles at 20. It's a trash cooler, if your getting 88C on a delidded chip I'd expect your cooler has started dying.

No, you don't, your cooler is dying or faulty. "Re-paste it", "Reseat it" and  "It's just intels bad thermal paste" are the responses people will give when they either A) don't know or B) won't admit the Kraken X62 is just a bad cooler.
Retailers themselves have confirmed to me the X62 has the highest recent failure rate they've seen. Just return it (if possible) and get something from corsair, be quiet or EVGA.

Truth be told that is not the best AiO in the world for someone wanting to go 5ghz.

I get 68~69Cºon max load 30minutes + with my H100i v2 then again I only have multi core enhancement to lock all core turbo on 4.7ghz going on... if I were push it beyond this I'm sure I would digits a bit close to yours, better ones but not too far off... I don't think 240mm AiO are the best solution for a cool 5ghz overclock and beyond with this processor.

Turn off MCU and manually overclock it dude. It helped with my temps quite a bit, not to mention it feels it a little bit too much voltage..

Also, the X62 is 280 not 240 A 280 is fine for this chip at 5ghz, my CLC handled temps perfectly. The X62 is just bad full stop.

What do you get with silent loop 360? Under prime

With no delid I don't get anything above 68. Haven't tried prime however.

The RGBs are nice on the X62 but look tacky after a while. The pump is bad, and my god the cables are trash.. really? SATA power and 4 4-pin headers that aren't removeable, on top of a 3-pin header and USB? wtf..

Silent loop 360 has a 360 rad, good fans, and ONE sleeved cable - a 3 pin. Also comes with a splitter for the 3 fans . Be Quiet! also pay for any damages should it leak, they also use a reverse pump design for almost no noise. Unlike the others they don't even use Asetek, they use Alphacool iirc.

EVGA CLC and Corsair H series are the other two of the best three imo. Kraken is just straight up bad, the only reason your not hearing more about it is because reviewers likely just get sent cherrypicked pumps, whereas in reality the X62s failure rate highly exceeds that of any other high-end cooler.

Yeah the daisy chain on kraken was just a tad annoying. May see if I can return and buy the silent loop.

Re applied thermal paste and nothing over 65 5ghz in prime 1.3v so far still got about 50 mins of prime left though.

Cinebench was sub 60

So reapplying your thermal paste also dropped your voltage by .5?

I have not seen a temp in this thread that would concern me.  82c-86c in Prime at 5GHz is average at worse.

No lol I dropped the voltage to see if would be stable. I think when I originally mounted the cooler I must've accidentally shifted it causing some of the ihs to not be covered or used too little because now temps are good 65 Max in prime etc and 50s in games.  Also at 1.32v now as after 50 mins of prime it crashed.

I wouldn't say average.. pretty bad. People over-exaggerate how bad intel's thermal paste is, 80c at load isn't normal on an AIO
