Corsair Ballistix 8 Gb RAM @ 1600 mHZ

NZXT Kraken x40L

OC:

i7-4770k @ 4.4 Ghz (1st attempt, should I try higher?)

     Core Voltage: 1.19

RAM @ 2000 mHZ

Notes: I would have gone higher, but I don't know what kind of stress test to use before I go further. What stress test is there for CPUs? I tried playing Skyrim with a 100 mods and I reached a max CPU temp of 56 Celcius. I would have overclocked my RAM a bit more, but it isn't really the nicest RAM. Its good though. Any thoughts?

4.5/4.6 is a nice overclock. As for your ram, I would try to get to 2400MHz :P

I recommend Prime 95 or the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility for stress testing the CPU. You didn't mention what cooling you got for the CPU but I think you got something alright. As for the RAM, you might be able to push it more, but I doubt you will see any increase in performance. In fact, the performance would have probably been the same if you stayed on 1600MHz.

The most common test is prime95 smallFFT's.

I also like to use intel burn. For me it has usually taken less time to show instability than prime95. It also doubles as a benchmark so you can see how the floating point performance of your cpu improves with the overclock.

if temps are good you could probably take up to 1.25v and still be alright.

My rig: 2600k(4.2 GHz) w/ Cooler Master hyper 212+, Gigabyte Z68-UD3H-B3, Powercolor 7870 xt(1100/1500) w/AIO mod,

8GB DDR3 1600, 120GB Kingston HyperX 3K SSD, 1TB Seagate, Antec earthwatts 430, NZXT H2

Verified max overclock, just for kicks: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2609399

Lucky 4.4 lol I can get 4.3 at 1.275v. Which isn't stable at all, the temps are to high.
