Hello guys.

i am planning on upgrading my PC build when 290 non-reference cards come out and i want you guys to help me out choose some stuff that need an upgrade.

My current PC build is:

Motherboard: P8Z68-V LX

CPU: i5 2550k @ 4.5 GHz --- (with corsair h60 cooler)

GPU:  XFX HD-687A-ZHFC Radeon HD 6870

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8gb ( 2x4GB)

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 6gb/s

PSU: Raidmax rx-850ae 850w --- (yup, raidmax. thing been alive and kicking for 2 years with no issues though)

Case : Apevia X-Trooper Red

What i plan to upgrade to:

GPU: prob MSI r9 290 or some other r9 290 with good cooling ----- (do not need feedback here)

Case : Corsair Obsidian 750D or Fractal Define r4 or Fractal Define R2 XL -- help choosing!

PSU: want suggestions, raidmax been alive for a bit too long, got a feeling it would fail me in a few more months ---- (any good PSU below 150$ that can handle the r9 290)

CPU cooler: want to change it to a h100i -- do i need to?

and the biggest question.

do i need a motherboard upgrade?if so, please suggest a few (below 200$).

Thanks for Helping

EDIT: PC WILL MOSTLY BE USED FOR GAMING

What's the system used for?

Get a 290, ssd.

Case is subjective and the h100i depends on whether or not you need the cpu power. I really doubt you'd need it. Replace the stock H60 fan if anything.

I don't see why you would upgrade your mobo.

i WILL get the 290 no matter what, i will be upgrading everything when 290 non reference cards come out so you dont really need to suggest it.

power supply http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-ss660xp2 or http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-rm750

dont need h100i unless u are going to overclock a fair bit also the case i personally like the r4 and it keeps things quiet but its really up to what u think looks nice.

my i5 2550k is overclocked, on load during GAMES its 65c maximum..but when i stress test that thing goes up to 90c QUICK.

was planning to get the h100i for a bit more cooling

Keep the motherboard & cpu.

I'd suggest a Seasonic psu, http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-ss650km.

If the H60 is doing the job, keep it. Put the H100 budget towards the better psu andor ssd.

If you want a new case, I'd suggest the Define R4 unless you decide to go with the H100i. Then either the 750D or Define XL R2. Things get quite tight with top mounted radiators in the R4.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

65c max really isnt a problem and stress test is unrealistic so u should be fine with the h60

a side note from what everyone else is saying, if you do decide to upgrade to the h100i and you do want to get that r9 290 I would suggest getting an NZXT g10 and you can use the H60 to watercool the 290 the g10s are only $30

i was thinking about that. but the g10 installation seems scary lol, never really installed any fans to my GPUs, i always buy them with non reference coolers.

Yeah, just replace the stock h60 fan if it's loud and get a ssd along with the 290.

The H60 isn't in the G10's compatibility list.

i dont think my motherboard lets me overclock too well, specially when i start overclocking 290.

still looking for suggestions

Wait for aftermarket 290's and see how they do.
