Threadripper temps

hi,

Ive been OCing my 1950X and been reading about the temps for this chip, people are saying 68 is the max for this chip is that 68 as in HWmonitor will read that or 68 + the offset that AMD implements meaning the chips is actaully around 90?

sorry if this doesnt make sence im a little lost as to all the temps for this 9_9.

Thanks

Depending on like 5 different factors, the offset may or may not be taken into account. In order to know which impact you, please give full specs and bios version.

There's no offset anymore. What you read is what the chip is running at. And considering ryzen normally can run at up to 80°C comfortably , i think that also goes for threadripper

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

I need to know the BIOS version specifically. There are beta BIOS versions all over forums, so having the version number is crucial.

I recommend the version from this thread. https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?95413-Zenith-Extreme-Beta-UEFI-0801

The offset is "accounted for " here and has been the most stable version for me.

cheers

So would that make HWMonitor show higher temps?

I skipped the BIOS version you were using, so I don't know for sure. But I do know 0801 has the offset adjustment baked in.
