Nvidia 388.31

sof006

Has anyone here had issues with the latest Nvidia drivers? Last night about 3 or 4 times my screen went completely black and came back on after about 2 seconds during normal use (not gaming, just watching YouTube). Sound was still playing but no video. I have clean installed 388.13 (previous version) and so far the issue has not returned. I am hoping it is just a driver issue and not my card dying.

I am using a ASUS Strix 8GB Gaming GTX1070 (non OC version)

System Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X

GPU: Radeon RX 7900 XT

RAM: 32GB 3600MHz

HDD: 1TB Sabrent NVMe -  WD 1TB Black - WD 2TB Green -  WD 4TB Blue

MB: Gigabyte  B550 Gaming X- RGB Disabled

PSU: Corsair RM850x 80 Plus Gold

Case: BeQuiet! Silent Base 801 Black

Cooler: Noctua NH-DH15

I've not with this version in particular but I've had very similar issues in the past, even when everyone else says the drivers are fine.

Just skip these and try the next one's, your card is more than likely fine and it's not like you need the SWBF2 improvements anyway, right?

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)

Haha very true. I do not! I hope this is the case, if not I guess I have an excuse to buy a 1080 or something similar when it does die haha.

I am using Google Chrome. GPU Acceleration is enabled. I did have the 388.31 drivers installed before I did the fall creators update mind you... its highly possible the fall update might (probably has) have messed something up. It wouldn't surprise me as this IS windows 10 we're talking about.

  • 3 weeks later...

So to bring up this thread again. I am still having this issue, it seems to appear only after gaming. If I spend an entire day of not gaming the issue doesn't appear. I fresh installed Windows and in fact I even have a GTX 1080 now. Seems a bit weird... Maybe a failing PCI-E slot? How would I even know?
