Installed a XFX Rx 580, 8GB gpu today. The case is a micro atx form factor (Fractal Design - Define Nano S). Barely any clearance between the GPU and the powersupply, prob about 1/4", which seems to render one of the GPU fans useless. I put a heavy load on the card and it shoots up to about 81c. Is this too hot? I am not used to using a gpu so I have not changed any settings on the card.

If it is too hot, would more case fans help cool it down? I currently have 2 case fans. The mobo (Gigabyte Z170N) only has one fan header so if I add more fans would I just put a fan hub in the case on the fan header then add as many fans as the hub/case can support?

81 isn't too too bad, probably not gonna damage anything, though it's a bit hotter than I'd personally be comfortable with.

You sure can try to cool it down with case fans, though in this case I'd recommend replacing the card with a blower-style card if at all possible.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

You -could- have the PSU mounted face up and that would help with the GPU's temperature... but that would make the PSU a bit warmer

Most GPUs won't see any sort of issue until you start reaching the mid to high 90c range. Try not to worry about it too much. While your GPU could do better with more clearance, you're not in any danger of damaging your video card.
