Hello,

For a while I've been dealing with an issue with my PC. At random times, the screen will freeze and the display will slightly pixelate. I have tried switching cables, monitors and ports, but no luck. Sometimes, the PC will just crash and restart when it freezes. Although, no BSODs. Here's the build.

CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K 4.00GHz (Overclocked to 4.60GHz)

Cooler: Corsair H55 AIO Water Cooler UPDATE: NZXT Kraken x62

Mobo: MSI Enthusiast Gaming M5 Z170A

RAM: 32GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX

GPU: Asus GTX 1080 Strix 11GBPS

SSD: PNY 240GB (for boot)

HDD: WD Blue 1TB (for storage)

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Thanks!

----------UPDATE!----------

Issue resolved.

after the freeze does it go black screen? then it could be a black screen of death rather then a normal bsod

or does it just freeze?

if u oced make sure its stable tbh with prime95 small fft atleast 12hr , and a custom run filling ur entire ram for atleast 24hours ( ram errors can occur even after 17hours )

This sounds like an overheating issue of your videocard. Depending on the airflow of your case, you may need to underclock your videocard. As above, run a few stability tests, since we're dealing with GPU, use Furmark to monitor your temperatures. If your display driver still crashes and your temperatures are fine (80C or less), you may have a damaged videocard.

It freezes, goes black for a few seconds, but then restores to normal most of the time. Occasionally it will reboot.

But this happens when I have simple programs like Google Chrome and Hangouts open. Nothing very graphically intensive. I monitor the temperature it usually stays between 27C and 32C.

EVGA 600w Bronze.

i think its ur cpu / oc then had similar issues with a x4 965 phenom 2   right out of the box when i oced it i could oc it high at low volts, stable but it had issues, in te end i had to add alot of volt to it lol

however it can simply be just drivers aswell, downgrade ur drivers rather then upgrading x)
