Ryzen 1700x is a higher quality R1700

They have 95 and 65 TDP.

 

So 1700x is a better cpu. When doing the same task, shouldnt 1700x consumer less power/ produce less heat than 1700. Why is the TDP rated higher?

If both cpus are running at the same clock speed, would the power draw be the same?

 

Can this be said about intel cpus?

The 1700x and the 1700 are nearly the same exact processor except the 1700x is better silicon. That all comes down to the silicon lottery however. They perform the same clock for clock. The main difference is clock speed, and the 1700x outperforms the 1700, thus creating heat
