Vga?

Hi, found 2 gpus. One is mini itx which i understand. But this one is vga, what is vga?

I assume it is a different version of hdmi or dvi-d. I will be using hdmi tho.

VGA is an old, almost obsolete connector. In the case of this card, it is probably just there for compatibility purposes

VGA is an analog way of doing video out. it was replaced by DVI, which is digital.

 

but that card does not have a vga port. so i have no idea what theyre talking about

 

it does have HDMI, Display port, and two Dual Link DVI-D ports

You don't have to use the VGA port if you don't want to.

it says  VGA because its an acronym for Video Graphics Adapter

No, you can buy it, it’s just that that port won’t be used. Also, not related, but if possible I think you should try getting a 6gb 1060 as 3gb is very limiting nowadays.

As mentioned above, it's probably referring to Video Graphics Adapter/Accelerator in this context. Definitely is not referring to the Video Graphics Array connector, unless the seller messed up. That card only has DVI-D ports which do not carry an analog signal, so there's no way that thing will output to the VGA standard. You'll need a DVI-I connector in order to have the chance to adapt down to the VGA standard.

VGA in this case is basically another way of saying graphics card, video card or display card. It stands for Video Graphics Adaptor and is different to the connector VGA, which stands for Video Graphics Array, which is an old analogue video connector/interface. 

 

The graphics card you linked to has 2x DVI-D DL ports, an HDMI 2.0b port and a Display Port 1.4 port. It doesn't have a VGA port and doesn't actually output any analogue signals at all, all of its outputs are digital. 

 

EDIT: The connector VGA can also stand for Video Graphics Adaptor BTW, but array avoids confusion a bit better.

Would be cool to see a modern GOOD gpu with a vga. Even if no one would use it.
