Hello!

As i was browsing through the Troubleshooting sections, looking for related topics already created by members, i did find someone's post about his voltage spikes on a fx 8300 cpu.
As i don't have that CPU, i thought of doing a new topic.

As i read the instructions, i will specify my PC specs before saying anything els in here.
CPU: AMD FX 8350 @4.0ghz (runs at 1.3V) default clocks
Mobo: Asus m5a97 le r2.0
BIOS: 12/12/13 Ver: 04.06.05 ( Dx diag said so)
Memory: 4x4 Crucial Ballistix Sport (ddr3) 1600mhz
Corsair 550w PSU
and Corsair H55i (i think) watercooler for CPU.
After cleaning my PC, new thermalpaste and everything, my temps went down to 55-60oC (HWMonitor, under Mobo CPU temp)
Core Temp shows max 50 on my CPU
GPU: RX470 Sapphire nitro+
I am using Windows 7, just wanted to note this out as maybe someone will ask this.
After a while, my CPU suddenly just keep's downclocking itself from 4Ghz (1.3v) to 1.4Ghz  (0.8625v)

I did google this situation and there they told that it was VRM overheating.

Not me xD. However, I use to use the Asrock 970M pro3 and it had no VRM heatsyncs and I was running an FX 8300 at 4.2Ghz @ 1.325V so IDK :)

Downclock it to 3ghz and lower the voltage as much as you can. If temperatures are okay and it still gets drops to below 2ghz territory, it's the VRM getting hot. If stable, increase clocks and keep the voltage as low as possible. You'll see where you can get it to run stable.

I hope this helps. Also, that fan over VRM solution is very much recommended
