Instead of getting a PSU that is overkill, you may save a bit of money by just buying a "silent" PSU.

1000W is like, double what you need nearly. If you get some of the higher tier corsair PSUs, I believe they have Corsair Link which allows custom fan curves on the PSU fan.

HEADS UP, THIS ACCOUNT IS INACTIVE NOW

I'm keeping everything else the way it was for anyone who might check out my answers in future, but I won't be using LTT.

Rather than getting a stupid high wattage PSU, get a quiet or passive one.

Seasonic Prime or Corsair RMx 650W should be fine. The fan shouldn't be the noisiest part of the system under full load.

o i fully understand that its massivly overkill it was more of a i want the fan to not spin under load or if it does spin not be able to hear it/ add to the noise of my system

punch your system's specs in pcpartpicker, take the wattage it spits out, double it, and get a corsair RMx (or better) as applies.

also, put your psu fan side up, it helps with passive ventilation when the fan doesnt spin.

Yes, that's why an RMx or Prime would be nice. They have passive modes, and even under load, they're among the quietest PSUs.

The RMi, and other high-end Corsair PSU series have 650W PSUs with quiet reliable fans. You can change the fan curve so that it doesn't start until like 80% load and then just have it really low RPM. Trust me, it will not be loudest part of your system.

ye coz am not oc my strix 1070 my cpu fan is the loudest part of my system ngl so my current psu just adds to the noise of that so for me it is a "loud" part of my system ahah

Also think about other things In your system that will be causing noise, You might have some loud case fans, or CPU fans, or Hard Drives that you might want to spend some more money on, before a PSU for the case of silence. In every system that I own, by the time the PSU fan starts to spin, the case fans, GPU fans and CPU fans are already loud enough to not make the PSU noticeable. You could get away with like a 650w and by the time the fan just starts to run at a low RPM, All your other fans are at a high RPM.

just gone full sdd and case fans dont spin untill gpu and cpu at high temp

I find so funny how some people shop their hardware, this guy here already has a perfectly functional PSU yet he's more interested in a new one instead of going something about the i5 7600k and 2133mhz memory.

Yes. He should spend money on the rest of the system, like a normal person. You know, not like me.

R9 280 upgrade, or a nice PSU? PSU it is xD

The fan doesn't come on based on load. It comes on based on how hot the PSU gets so an overkill PSU won't help you in that department. The many times mentioned Corsair RMx or RMi would be good for you.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
