Hey everyone,

I'm planning to upgrade the CPU (and all the rest that therefore needs to be changed) of my existing computer (custom built), and wanted to check whether the parts I picked are reasonable/compatible or whether I should upgrade one of them.

I plan to do mild overclocking at most, and am trying to keep the system upgradeable for the future (I might e.g. add a M.2 SSD at some point). The question is now: Is there any issue with the parts I picked? Should I go for a better cooler? Would it make sense to buy a better motherboard? Anything else I missed?

Any notes/suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance

Seems unbalanced. I'd go with the 8600k, and put some money towards a better graphics card.

That said, you didn't say what you use your PC for, which is a pretty crucial part of build planning. For example, 32GB of RAM is extremely overkill for most people, but might not be depending on what you use your PC for.

No suggestions, looks great, but i would upgrade the 770 soon, its a little out of place in a build with a i7 8700k unless you aren't doing gaming/editing.

If at first you don't succeed...

Call it version 1.0

Agreed. 8600k might be better but he might be able to get a new gpu soon so then i would get the i7 also 16gb would probably be fine.

Depends what he uses his PC for. There's little difference in gaming between the two.

The 770 is not in the same class as a 8700K.

Definitely GPU upgrade would help a lot for gaming.

True, for gaming, unless he uses it for other things like you said.

Thanks a lot for the replies!

To answer the question what the PC is going to be used for: I'll mostly use it for coding/gaming. I know that the GPU won't be enough for heavy gaming, but since I'm currently bottlenecked by the CPU in all cases, I decided to upgrade that part first and the GPU at some later point.

Cool, seems like a great build!
