Hello, so I was putting my new thermalpaste on cpu. I cleaned off old thermalpaste with 70% alcohol. When i turned on pc all system fans were spining but i am not getting any picture. I am using intergrated graphics and I pilled cpu oit of socket while removing thermalpaste.

PS. Sorry for my bad English.

You put the cpu back in right? sorry just wanted to check. Do you per chance have another motherboard/cpu just to test components?

You need to check if you accidentally bent/broke any pins on the CPU/socket. If something is bent out of place, you may very carefully try to bend it back in place. Also, like Legolessed there said, check that the CPU is correctly in the socket.

Reminds me of nearly every single time I've brought my PC to a friend's place, usually to make modifications or change thermal paste. In my case, it turned out to be a defective RAM slot. Twice.

So, a checklist for you to try, one at a time:

  • Try one stick of RAM at a time
  • Try different RAM slots
  • Clear the CMOS (remove the little clock battery and place it back it)
  • Disconnect any non-essential peripherals: The essentials are keyboard, mouse and monitor.
  • What happens if you don't have any RAM in it at all, does it behave differently?

So I removed CMOS and put it back in, I tryed diffrent RAM slots, and there is no difference without RAM. But there is one stupid thing I did and forgot to mention, when i was removing thermalpaste i accidently pored alcohol on the back of cpu and i wiped that with a napkin. Also I saw that when VGA is not connected on monitor is message no signal but when I connect VGA it disapeares but there is still no picture

Paper isn't good as it leaves fibres sometimes. Try using a microfiber cleaning cloth and giving it a wipe and/or maybe use a hair dryer (on cool) to blow out any fibers that might have got stuck in there. Chances are though that it's not the cpu. Have you checked that the BIOS is properly set for onboard graphics, as it may have changed back to another setting?

Have you got a GPU that you can put in that system, even a cheap one, to test it? Double check your connections too, especially for the monitor cable. Are there any beeps or lights on the mobo indicating a problem? You can also reset the CMOS, as others suggested, and try switching off the PC via the main switch at the back, unplug it, press the power button (on the front or top or whatever) to clear any latent electrical charge in the system, plug it back in, turn on the main power switch and then turn the pc back on and see if that makes a difference.
