I've been using my asus laptop for one year or so and one of the things that bugs me recently is that a few minutes into playing a game (let's say...maybe BeamNG?) every key I press takes around 3 seconds to register. I tried using my logitech keyboard but still, it keeps happening. My CPU (7500u) is running at 2.6-2.8 GHz with temps of up to  84 degrees. My 940mx is at 80 degress with clock speeds at 1108 MHz and memory clocks at 1088 MHz. what could be causing the problem?

Have you checked task manager (ctrl+Alt+Del)? There could be background tasks Auto running on the ASUS OEM windows that are eating up resources and causing slow down. If that is the problem there are plenty of youtube videos on how to stop OEM background tasks.

The only thing eating up CPU resources is the windows service host

hmmmm. Is your boot drive a hard drive or an ssd? also, is the game you are playing on a hard drive or an ssd. If your hard drive is starting to die it could lead to instability that might explain your lag problems.

There is only one 512GB SSD in my laptop. It's a Sandisk X400 as far as I know. And the laptop is only one year old, so there shouldn't be any problems with the SSD.

yea, I agree that a year old SSD should not be causing problems. Hopefully someone with more expertise than me can solve this mystery.
