i locked myself out of my iPhone because i cant remember my password. I have have a bunch of important photos on my phone, and don't want to lose them to a reset. How can i get the photos off safely?

Is any of it backed up to iCloud? Or is it setup to trust your computer?

The only way back into your phone is with the passcode. You can either figure out the password, check iCloud to make sure anything important is backed up there, or try plugging it into your computer if your computer is already trusted.

if its trusted can i get into the photos?

Go to the apple store with a proof of ownership of the phone. They will get you in.

If its trusted then I think you can back up the photos.....I know you can sync with a locked iPhone once the iPhone has trusted that computer. 

 

Also, iCloud backups happen automatically unless you ran out of space/turned that off.

No, they won't. There is literally no way for them to get you into the phone without erasing and restoring it.

pretty sure you still need to unlock the phone even if it is trusted.

I just plugged my phone in to double check, you don't. For pulling off photos you might, but for syncing you definitely don't.

as @djdwosk97 said, they wont get you the photos, but you'll at least be able to reuse the phone. Try backing up to itunes on a trusted pc first.

That boggles my mind. You didn't set up the fingerprint reader? And isn't the code only 4 digits?

I didn't try to run a backup, but I did just plug it in again, I can access the phone in iTunes, however I can't import the photos from it without unlocking it, even on a trusted computer.

ok clarity. This isnt my phone and i didnt lock myself out. a friend did and their fingerprint got revoked now because they tried to get in too many times using the PIN

• Pray that his passcode comes to him in a vision.
• Pray that his pictures were backed up to iCloud. 
• Pay Celebrite $1.3 million.
• Cry and restore the phone.

Start at 0000 and work your way up to 9999. How hard can it be?

I believe after a few tries they lock you up for sometime before you can retry once. This duration extends for each try, so I dont see that as doable

Didn't they stop that a few years ago? I thought it was now:

6 failed attempts -> disable for 1 minute

7 -> disable for 5 minutes

8 -> 15 minutes

9 -> 60 minutes

10 -> iTunes to unlock.
