That ram is very overpriced... Try finding cheaper 2666-2800 MHz memory, and I think the PSU is not that good.

Better to have dual channel RAM with Ryzen and the board has 4 slots right? 8gb will do for now and 16gb will last a while if gaming is the main use.

not a very big increase in performance but more troublesome to upgrade.

If you can I would recommend buying some parts of your system such as the processor, graphics card, and storage(if you plan on storing important data on it then I would take that into consideration) used.

Hope this information post was helpful  ?,

The increased performance depends on the games this can vary a lot. The difference might only be 1-2 fps in certain games but in others it can be up to 10 fps. If you're on a budget you wont upgrade any time soon due to high pricing of RAM. The few extra bucks for dual channel is worth the gain in performance, and the problems for future upgrades are minimal.

Here's what others may consider a better list.

  • Changed Motherboard to GA-AB350M mATX (Saving $35)
  • Changed RAM to single slot 8GB. Gets rid of dual channel, but is cheaper and better for expanding on mATX. (Saving $12)
  • Changed PSU from Tier 5 500w to Tier 3 450w. Lost 50 watt, but I'll be surprised if you hit 350. (Saving $10)

Original Cost: $672

New Cost: $616

Personally, I think that the HDD is fine. It may not be the best deal, but there's a lower chance of a defective unit. As for buying used, I think that everything would be fine except for HDD/SDD. I wouldn't risk losing data.

Fan Comparisons          F@H          PCPartPicker         Analysis of Market Trends (Coming soon? Never? Who knows!)

Designing a mITX case. Working on aluminum prototypes.

Open for intern / part-time. Good at maths, CAD and airflow stuff. Dabbled with Python.

Do you guys seriously think it's worth to go single channel RAM if it only saves $12? I could understand if you only have 2 slots, but it doesn't make sense to me if you have 4 available slots (I wouldn't even consider a 2 slot Motherboard tbh).

I'm pretty neutral about it.

Running in dual-channel should have improvements, but so does a higher frequency.

If I was to try to build a PC, I'd buy the ram used and just take the best deal I can find (either 2x8 or 1x16).

Get Asus Prime B350 Plus

Don't buy Apple M1 computers with 8GB of RAM
