I have decided to wait for the next gen gpu as I have a 970 and always like to skip a gen or 2 before upgrading however I'm debating weather to upgrade the rest of my system as it is a few years old now.

What are your thoughts on the i5 4690k? Is it still relevant or is it now outdated?  Most games are now pushing it to about 80 - 100% usage.

I still use a 3930k at it works just fine and your CPU architecture is 2 gens newer. If you want more performance overclock your cpu is a k sku so try that first then if it does not give enough performance get something new. (If you are looking to replace it anyways you can just go balls to the walls on the overclock)

Well i made a rather big mistake ordering the wrong motherboad when I was building this pc so oc isent possible at the min.

My gpu and cpu seem to be about matched in terms of usage under load and I'm  wondering wether or not my cpu will start to bottleneck when I upgrade my gpu next year or whenever the next nvidia cards are out
