So this will be super vague and I'm sorry but I'll do my best to explain. I work in Quality Assurance and in QA we track mistakes (obviously). We track mistakes on a spreadsheet. We have the mistake type in one column, the person who made the mistake in the next column, and a priority level in the next column. At the end of the month we go through and for each employee compile a report of their mistakes. Right now this has to be done manually because sometimes we strike through something if it ends up not being the fault of that person, or if new information reveals it wasn't a mistake at all. I need a way to compile all of this information at one time without having to do it manually. Any tips or advice here?

If you have to manually correct things, then automation won't work.

I'm not an excel wizard, but you should be able to create a formula to count that sort of thing up by name, but I personally wouldn't know the formula. We have some serious excel wizards here who can do anything, but without concrete info (and I understand why you can't give it) I'd be hard pressed to get you a working formula.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

maybe you should be using Microsoft access.

I should also mention, we use Google Sheets. Also we have things that aren't mistakes on our sheet as well. Such as notes.

If it was a mistake, you make a new column as mistake, and put a 1 for mistake or 0 for not a mistake. Or yes or no whatever your want as long as it is standardized.

Why not sort by name? This would put all of the mistakes of a person in one blob. You can cut and past the blob into a new sheet if you need to and sort by severity of mistake or something.

If you want more control over that, you will probably need to put everything in to Excel and do some filtering, filter by name and if it was or wasn't a mistake. Maybe Google docs and do that as well I haven't ever used it.
