So I'll link my PC I'm planning on building by the end of the month after this, but I'm really confused with which display port I want seeing as how I'll be gaming in 1440p with a 165 hertz refresh rate. Do I need a certain HDMI cable to display it accurately, or do I want a DP cable, also this is the stupidest question, but I plug it into the GPU and not the motherboard, right? This is also a g sync setup, so does that matter at all? Thanks for your help guys. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kNhhVY

You'd take an HDMI cable or a DP cable from the GPU to your monitor. I do have a few suggestions for your build, though:

1. I love, wifi, but if you're going ATX, you might as well get a PCIe wifi card.

2. Get an SSD unless you already have one.

Only DisplayPort can be used for 1440p 165 Hz. G-Sync monitors support HDMI 1.4 which has a maximum of around 1440p 75 Hz.

Yes, you connect the monitor to the GPU.

Unless his monitor has HDMI 2.0, he needs DP for that resolution and refresh rate.

Yeah, I moved like, 4 different times and each time I moved I had to be near the router to have a direct connection because I couldn't get WiFi on my Mobo. I do already have an SSD which is why I didn't include it. What the heck is a PCIe? I thought the motherboard in getting has WiFi? Am I really that dense?

Nah, it's fine ;)

Your motherboard has built-in wifi. This usually (almost always, I've seen, like, one motherboard that didn't follow this pattern) comes at a price premium. If I were you, I'd buy a better motherboard without built-in wifi, and put in a PCIe add-in card. Feel free to ask me if you're still confused :)

It seems like the motherboards for the Z300 series chipset are all pretty highly priced, but I love to save money. If there's any way for me to get the same performance and still save some cash I'm all in.

Are you okay with Ryzen? You might be able to save some money, but maybe not.

IDK. I mean, I shouldn't say no, but I feel like Nvidia can last for a longer period of time than Ryzen, even though that's totally wrong that's how I receive the two companies. Nvidia makes long lasting premium products, and Ryzen seems to make great products, just not as good l and they tend to have some issues down the line, but this is 100% my opinion and I know it's wrong to be "brand loyal", but at the end of the day it's just a PC, Ryzen or Nvidia we're all gamers. So to answer your question, no, but I appreciate your help.

In that case, I've done a bit of research, and unless you're willing to wait for Black Friday/Cyber Monday, you aren't going to find any better deals on motherboards, so I'd just wait till either the sales, or order the list you have now.

I am going to wait, why spend the extra money now when I can save money by just waiting a few weeks?
