Both cards are fairly close: the 1070ti you can very likely manually overclock it to 1080 founders edition levels.

 

So this is going to come down to your budget and local prices: for example local to me there's some 1080s that are cheaper than the 1070ti models available right now. But if it's a 1080 with a cheap blower cooler vs a 1070 with a nice triple fan one then go for the one with better cooling it will overclock to 1080 levels. 

 

So in short: with decent cooling and price, 1080. If those are too much money for you then a 1070 with decent cooling or a 1080 with regular cooling that might not overclock much but it's already inherently powerful.

Hey guys,

 

I am currently searching for a new GPU for a maximum of 550 euros, so the only to viable options for me would be a 1070ti, 1080 (or eventually 1070, but probably not). I am gaming on 2560x1440 144Hz screen and don't really mind too much if I have to lower the settings to medium and I really don't want to spend 750+ euros on a 1080ti.

 

Which of these would be the better option for me?

The GTX 1070 Ti is by all means sufficient if you're cool with adjusting your settings:

Do you think there's any difference in future support, regarding the 1080 (which came out more than one year ago) and the 1070ti?

No, both cards features the identical Pascal architecture, support wise such as drivers, technology implementation and so on will be identical for both cards. The performance is only different due to the amount of unlocked CUDA Cores on each card and it's VRAM type and settings.

They are so similar I'd pick the cheapest card of the two models that's not using a blower cooler.

i wouldnt know, i have never had any experience with the cooler designs from gainward,

but if that is the type of cooler design you want go for it, they seem to have quite good reviews on amazon.de
