Suggestions?

PerfectPlasma

I have a 1440p gaming rig in the works, almost done, and I'm wondering of there are any good 1440p G-sync monitors out there I should gravitate towards? Or should I just get a higher refresh rate instead?

All 1440P GSync monitors are 144Hz+ anyway, so you don't really have a choice in terms of refresh rate.

Ultimately, it depends what you want to spend. With 1440P GSync you're look at $400 to $750 depending on what you go for.

What's your budget?

I'd recommend an Acer Predator X34 or Asus PG279Q or PG348Q

My budget cuts at $600 but I can extend to $700 if it's worth it

Oh, okay lol. I don't know of any monitors in particular, besides the Acer Predator X34, that I could suggest.

Is there any brand I should look into?

Did you already buy the PC? Or were you just getting a parts list together? What CPU/GPU?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

You've basically got Asus, AOC, Acer and Dell when it comes to 1440p GSync.

The Asus PG279Q is often considered the best (1440p, 144Hz, GSync, IPS). The AOC AG271QG has the same specs and is quite a lot cheaper. I'm not too sure on how big the difference between them is, but I have seem good things about both monitors.

For the most part the parts are already set in stone, I just have to buy them. I've had the list for about a month

And the parts are?

As it's $399 for a 1440p 144hz IPS free-sync display
https://pixiogaming.com/collections/monitors/products/new-px277

Or only $470 for a non korean version with a warranty and better stand
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/xYx9TW/nixeus-nx-edg27-270-2560x1440-144hz-monitor-edg-27

Would suggest sticking to free-sync as it should always be cheaper than G-sync.

Phantex P400S

ASUS Prime b350 Plus

Ryzen 5 1600

MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X

G.Skill Ripjaw V 2x8 3000

 Crucial Mx300 275GB

Corsair H60

EVGA 650W G2

You should put the AIO money into a better motherboard potentially, like the ASrock Killer SLI board
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157769

a 120mm AIO isn't too much better than something like a $25 Hyper T4

Should you save money with free-sync you could do that stuff anyways.

Vega 56 is currently $420, takes less than 5 minutes to flash it and bring it closer to a 1080
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150810&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker, LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

If not then buy a 1070ti as it killed the Nvidia GPUs surrounding it unless the 1070 is well below $400

Anything you plan now will probably change by then, Would expect Vega partner cards to be out at some point relatively soon though
