Rebuilding NAS: Store OS on Flash Drive or small SSD?

Hi guys,

When I set up my FreeNAS, I messed up and put something in an awkward place. Fixing it would be annoying, so I'm rebuilding it from scratch.

Since I'm reinstalling FreeNAS anyway, I was wondering: What should I install it on? I have a 40GB Mushkin SSD (SATAII, ... I know.) and what it is now running on, a 16GB Flash Drive.

I don't really think there will be a performance increase or anything, but I don't know what else I would use the 40GB SSD for. I don't really need it in my PC. It's capacity is too small to go into a laptop alone.

If I could set it up as cache or something, I guess that would be good. But I'm not sure how I would do that in FreeNAS.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Vitalius.
